Oh boy, the more I wander around the 1940census project sight the more I learn! The other blogs are 'blow me away' excellent, I especially enjoyed reading about the last of the 1812 Pensioners. It is amazing what our ancestors had to go through to survive and leave something for the next generation. My 5x Great Grandfather, Daniel Chapman, was in the War of 1812, I was fortunate enough to see his pension papers at the National Archives in Washington D.C.! I also have some of his pension papers that my Grandfather passed down to me.  They are amazing documents!

I am currently working on a branch of the Chapman/Rouse/French/Cooley that I had not explored before and very thankful for those who came before me that wrote things down!

I am excited to find all the new resources for me to look and learn from! I had a wee bit of trouble getting logged into the 1940Census.com site, but now that I am there, wow, there is a ton of information!

So much fun!!
Well, I've been away for a little over a week for my Mom. She had back surgery last week and needed me just a wee bit to help out.  I did get to index a few of the New York Census pages in my spare time. I hope to get back to it more heavily by next week.

I seem to be doing pretty well as my arbitration results, tho I surely do not agree with a good deal of the arbitration. It sometimes seems like the Arbitrator is looking at a completely different page than I looked at.

I was hoping I could get my family names corrected but apparently that isn't possible. Their names came out in the index really different than they actually are, tho from the handwriting I could see where the error could be made. Too bad corrections aren't possible.

I'm looking forward to getting back to indexing! I sure enjoy it!

This is my new home for genealogical learning and information on my family history. I have been doing research on the Chapman Family from Western New York for quite a few years and it has expanded into a lovely tree including Hardy's, French's, Rouse's, Morrisons, and quite a few more. It is fascinating to me see how my ancestors lived and worked during their time here on Earth.

It is a journey I am most eager to be on!
